The Rising Sun Public House,
Nutbourne
In
a village setting off the A283 east of Pulborough,
the 16th century Rising Sun is a splendid free
house with a flourishing coat of creeper that almost
hides its frontage. Inside, the bar and dining area
combine traditional and contemporary features, creating
a very pleasant, civilised ambience for enjoying
a drink and some good conversation.
The
food has been praised for its excellence, boasting
a menu of classic dishes like garlic mushrooms,
burgers, battered haddock, home-made pies and sausage
& mash, This is supplemented by a tempting list
of blackboard specials, which include the likes
of calamari with a chilli dip, barbeque ribs
and stuffed pork fillet with a mustard sauce.
The Rising Sun has been owned by the Howard
family since 1981, and is now run by Oliver and
Tristan Howard.
