Jeremy Cornish

 

Head Coach

 

 

Canadian Jeremy Cornish heads the Raiders for his second season as the teams' Player/Coach. The 6'4" winger came to the Raiders after several years in the countries top flight, the Elite League.

The Ontario native had an impressive debut season with the Island side scoring 27 goals and 52 points in just 34 regular season games, before guiding the team to the playoff finals. Prior to coming to the UK Jeremy spent time in the CHL, the UHL and the ECHL.

30-year-old Cornish brings a welth of experience and hockey knowledge to the Raiders and is sure to make a big impact again this season, both on and off the ice.

1 - Toby Cooley

British Trained 

 
Toby Cooley joins the Raiders again this season for what will be his 13th at the club, having originally graduated from Rydes very own junior teams. Toby will be celebrating his long service this year with a testimonial game kicking off the new season.
Toby is a highly experienced netminder and adds great strength and leadership at the back.
After some great performances that ultimately guided the Raiders to the playoff finals last season Toby was always a much needed returnee for the new campaign and is sure to be a fans favourite once again.

90 - Matt Colclough

 

British Trained

20-year-old Matt Colclough joins the Raiders again this season for his second term with the team. Matt leaned his trade in the Guildford junior system, where he started playing as part of their Under 14's squad. Colclough who represented Team England at Under 17's level spent his final junior season with the Guildford Under 18's while training throughout the season with the Guildford Flames EPL team. 
The 6-foot Goalie is also an experienced Roller Hockey Player having played for Great Britian at Under 12's and Under 16's level.

## - Robbie Brown

 British Trained

 

Robbie Brown joins the Raiders for his first season with the team, having played last season in his native Northern Island with the Elite League Belfast Giants.

19-year-old Brown is a young skilful forward who possesses good speed and great hands and will be expected to get his fair share of points this year for the Raiders. 

Robbie previously impressed with the Solway Sharks in the Scottish Premier Ice Hockey League where he posted a total 45 points including 27 goals in just 48 games.

73 - Alex Murray

 British Trained

Alex joins the Raiders for his second full season with the team having joined orignially from the Islands ENL Div.2 team to ice for the Raiders in the EPL.

Alex made the change from defence to a forward position last season after showing his natural scoring ability a position he is no stranger to having originally played as a centreman during his junior career at the Solent and Gosport Ice Hockey Club where he also played three seasons with their ENL team prior to playing on the Island.

21-year-old Murray will be an important addition to this years Raiders squad again this season, and is expected to play a major role within the team.

## - Nathan Taylor

 British Trained

Nathan Taylor is another new face to the 2010-2011 Raiders line up, joining the squad from the ENL North champions the Whitley Warriors.

Taylor has spend the past two seasons with Whitley, prior to which he iced in both the Elite League and ENL for Newcastle, turning out for the Vipers alongside Raiders coach Jeremy Cornish.

Nathan was Whitleys top scorer two seasons ago and posted impressive stats in the second half of last season after taking time out to fully recover from an injury.

Nathan is a hugh young talent and will give a great offencive boost to the Raiders this season.

## - Bradley Watchorn

 

British Trained  

Bradley Watchorn is no stranger to the Raiders fans, having previously iced for the team during their last EPL campaign in the 2008-2009 season.

Bradley is a product of the successful Bracknell junior set up and has iced for both the Bracknell Hornets in the ENL and the Bracknell Bees in the EPL as well as a two-year stint in Canada where he played Junior A hockey.

The 6'3" power forward was a member of last years Bracknell Hornets squad that faced the Raiders in the playoff finals. Bradley had a productive regular season for the Hornets posting 32 points in 32 games as well as amassing 187 penalty minutes.

Bradley is a physical player who will stand up for his team mates and ensure the Raiders have a presence on the ice.

19 - Stewart Tait

British Trained 

 
Stewart Tait re-joins the Raiders once again this season after an impressive 2009/2010 campaign with the team in which he bagged 52 points in 35 regular season games. Tait spent the previous two years with the Slough Jets in the EPL and iced the 2006/2007 season for the Wightlink Raiders.
29-year-old Tait plays with infectious enthusiasm and his extensive experience will be an asset to the squad and an inspiration to his teammates.

23 - Andrew Robinson

British Trained 

 

Andy first joined the Raiders back in 2003 and has iced for the team every season since. 30-year-old Robinson is a reliable and passionate player who never gives less than 100% every time he steps out on the ice. Before joining the Island team 'Robo' as he has become known, played for the Basingstoke Buffalo in the ENL. This is one player that is sure to be a firm fans favourite once again this season.

12 - Steve Gosset

British Trained 

 

Steve Rejoins the Raiders for his seventh season, having come up through the junior development system at Ryde arena, and is a popular player with many Raiders Fans. Steve, who was voted most improved player for the 2005/2006 season spent a year playing for the Vectis Tigers in ENL Div. 2 before rejoining the Raiders last season.

13 - Kieran Annis

British Trained 

Impressive youngster Kieran Annis joins the Raiders for his second season with the team having graduated from the Isle of Wight Junior Ice Hockey Club.

The 5'9" forward has a good hokey brain and great skill with the puck. 

18-year-old Annis has several games experience in the ENL having  iced games for the Vectis Tigers during the two seasons before he joined the Raiders.

22 - Kevin Tanner

 British Trained

 

Kevin Tanner signs up for his second season with the Raiders, having spent the previous two seasons with the Vectis Tigers. 

Kevin like his teammate Alex Murray, is a former Solent and Gosport Junior Ice Hockey player, he progressed to have two highly successful seasons with their ENL team before making the move to the Island.

Tanner is a versatile player, and can play both forward and defence give coach Jeremy Cornish some flexibility with the star of last seasons playoff campaign.

## - Josh Florey

 British Trained

 

Josh Florey joins the Raiders this term for his first season with the Island team, joining from the Basingstoke Buffalo where he iced last season in the ENL Div. 2 bagging 26 points in just 15 games. 

18 -year-old Josh is a product of the Oxford Junior System, where he graduated to playing for their ENL squad before moving to Basingstoke.  

Florey boasts a great amount of experience despite his young age and his natural offensive talent has earned himself a roster spot with the Raiders.

## - Jason Gorrie

 

Canadian Trained

 

 

Jason Gorrie joins the Raiders this season for his first in British Ice Hockey having learned his trade in the OPJHL in his native Canada.

24-year-old Gorrie spend four seasons racking up impressive numbers in the NCAA Division 3 and joined the Evansville Icemen of the AAHL towards the end of last season helping them lift the league trophy after becoming the teams best playoff performer. 

Jason is a highly talented player with a strong offensive pedigree and is expected to be a major contributor on the scoreboard for the Raiders this season.

7 - Damon Larter

 British Trained

 

Damon is no stranger to Ice Hockey on the Island, having come up through the rinks junior teams, and making his debut for the Raiders in 2002. 

24-year-old Larter will rejoin the Raiders for his seventh season with the club this year, after receiving two of the end of season awards in 2008, including Defenseman of the year and Player Player of the year. Damon becomes the first Island trained player to wear the 'C' on his shirt as he becomes the new Raiders captain this season.

## - Niall Bound

 British Trained

 

20 year old Niall joined the Raiders midway through last season and his assured and reliable performances have helped him sign for his first full season with the team.

Former Island junior Bound joined the Raiders from their sister team the Wightlink Tigers where he gained great experience allowing him to step up to the next level.

Niall played a big part in the Raiders second half of the season, and is sure to be an important member of this years squad.

61 - Daniel Scott

British Trained 

 

23-Year-Old Dan Scott joins the Raiders again this season after having an impressive 2009/2010 season cut short when he suffered a badly broken ankle during a game. Daniel is a good British defenceman who has a lot of Elite League experience with the Nottingham Panthers. The 6'2'' D-man has played with both Solihull and Romford as well as the Wightlink Raiders in the English Premier League previously and is known for his size, physical play and accurate shot. Prior to joining the Raiders for the first time Dan spent a year playing for IC Epinal across the channel in France.

## - Dominic Hopkins

 British Trained

29 year old Dominic Hopkins rejoins the Raiders for his third stint with the club. Since leaving at the end of 2006/2007 EPL season Hopkins has spent time with the Guildford Flames before being part of last years playoff winners the Bracknell Hornets for the past two seasons. Prior to that he has played Elite League and BNL with the likes of Basingstoke Bison, London Racers and Dundee Stars. 

Standing at 6'5 Dominic will bring experience and versatility to the squad, and has proven himself to be a top defenceman in the ENL.

## - James Francis

 British Trained

 

James is no stranger to hockey on the Island, having first taken to the ice at Ryde Arena, before developing his skills in the highly rated Guildford junior squads.

20-year-old James previously iced for the Raiders in the EPL alongside his older brother Will before leaving for another short spell in Guildford and his local ENL team the Solent and Gosport Devils.

The 6'4" 225lbs Defenceman has spent the past two seasons over the water in Florida where he captained the Space Coast Hurricanes coached by ex-Raider Peter Nyman.

3 - Steve Gannaway

 British Trained

 

5'8" Defenceman Steve Gannaway brings a wealth of experience to the team having iced every season with the Raiders since the were formed bar one season that he spent a player/assistant coach of the Bracknell Bees in the EPL.

'Ganners' is a reliable stay at home defenceman who reads the game well, he is sure to be a fans favourite again this season as he takes to the ice in his famous number 3 shirt.
